Confronting Sexual Harm in the 21st century
1-day workshop for churches -Presenters Karen Shogren and Lisa Radcliff
February 3, 2024
9am—3pm
In-person at Paradise Bible Fellowship Church

The purpose of this workshop is to give you the information and practical tools to fight against sexual harm. The CDC estimates that in the United State 1 in 2 women and 1 in 6 men have experienced some sort of sexual harm before the age of 18. Since that is an average, we recognize that in some communities every man and woman have experienced that sort of abuse. Most church leadership knows that it happens, but don’t know what to say or do, and to avoid making things worse by doing or saying the wrong thing, they stay silent. To make matters worse, faith communities are magnets for people who want to abuse the vulnerable, and the mistaken notion that it is easy to spot abusers by their appearance lets them harm many without deterrence. The nature of sexual harm is also changing due to increased technology use. God’s perspective is clear: it is His Church’s job to “speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves (Proverbs 31:8-9) and “intervene to help the oppressed” (Isaiah 59:15-16). Come join us in the fight!
